Joel - places to camp before the kids grow up are places where kids can have fun just being kids. It's not that they won't appreciate them as adults, also - just that its someplace that might leave a lasting impression on them, as kids.

Hi Roy,
I have two young kids, 3 and 4 years old and don't live too far from the place.
I was wondering: Why is it a place to visit before the kids grow up?
I don't see any mention of it in your post and would like to know what you mean by that. Looks like an interesting place to camp for sure.
Thanks

Ross - the best I can do if give you some recommendations based on what I see on the map. The 100 loop looks like the most private, but on all the loops it looks like the outside sites are larger, particularly on the eastern side of the 400, 500 & 600 loops.

I would avoid the 200 and 300 loops, because they look the most crowded (squeezed together, because of the road intersection). I bet the hardest sites to get in the park are the ones along the river in the 600 loop.

Good luck!

can anyone help me out in suggesting a couple of really good campsites at Letchworth State Park. I have a large trailer and like the quiet, family areas.

Thank you,

Beautiful country!
When I watched Last of the Mohicans, I felt like I was back there. Love it!
